THE MILLER BROTHERS
We're the Miller Brothers, Seth and Ray. As university certified educators we founded Spectrum with the desire to use our teaching skills to introduce you to the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We both hold brown belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Our aim is to offer the most modern and comprehensive instruction in the area.
We hope to enrich the community we grew up in and want to avoid the unnecessary nickel-and-diming that martial arts businesses are notorious for.
We have been training in the martial arts for over fifteen years. In our academy we seek to provide and maintain an ever-growing arsenal of the most efficient and proven techniques. The focus will remain on producing supreme martial artists, athletes, and people.
Our mission is to train others to improve their mind and body by learning the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Professor Cassiano Santos
Professor Cassiano Santos leads Spectrum’s morning classes. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Cassiano, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, moved to the Washington D.C. area 5 years ago. After serving 5 years in the Brazilian Army, Cassiano became a physical education teacher at FMU College in São Paul only to find his passion when he started his Jiu Jitsu career under Daniel Gracie and B9 Old School in Brazil. With 20 years of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training and competitions under his belt Cassiano is an accomplished competitor. Professor Cassiano is an 8 time Paulista-FPJJ Brazil champion, a 3 time IBJJF Brazil champion, a 5 time IBJJF Open Brazil champion, and an Abu Dhabi champion.
coach Celle Miller
Marcelle Barbosa Miller is the primary coach of our women's program and an assistant coach for our youth program. Boasting over a decade of teaching experience, she has been an invaluable part of our team.
Born in Rio Grande, Brazil, she began her BJJ journey in her hometown before setting out to expand her horizons. Her passion for learning and self-improvement led her to the United States and later to South Korea, where she spent years refining her teaching skills and mastering multiple languages.
Fluent in English, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese, Marcelle brings a unique and inclusive perspective to her coaching. While in South Korea, she had a brief but impactful return to BJJ before ultimately settling back in the U.S. to start a family and fully dedicate herself to her career in fitness and martial arts. Now a BJJ purple belt under Spectrum Jiu-Jitsu, she combines her deep technical knowledge with a dynamic, inclusive coaching style to help her students grow both on and off the mats.
